Insurance Information

At GTA Moving Guys we want you to have piece of mind when moving with us, that's why we offer more than the standard insurance coverage. We offer 2 types of coverage to ensure your move is satisfactory.

Basic Protection: (Released Value Protection)

All projects are covered with Released Value Protection and provides, a maximum sixty cents per pound included at no charge. This is the most basic protection meant for low value moves or moves already protected through other insurance providers such as your home insurance or third party moving insurance.

Released Value is the industry standard at 60 cents per pound as recommended by the Good Practice Guidelines For Canadian Movers.

Under this option, GTA Moving Guys assumes liability for no more than 60 cents per pound per article and covers only listed items which are not otherwise excluded on the contract. For example, if GTA Moving Guys loses or damaged a 10-pound stereo component valued at $1000 you would receive $6.00 in compensation (60 cents x 10 pounds). There is no additional charge for this option. However, you must sign a specific statement on the contract agreeing to it. But remember, it compensates you according to the weight of the item, not its actual value.

Full Value Protection:

If you chose this option , a flat charge of $200.00 will be added to your bill. The deductible is $100.00. Under Full Value Protection, GTA Moving Guys is liable for the replacement value of lost or damaged goods at $5.00 per pound per article upto $500 per article. If any article is lost, destroyed or damaged while in our custody, GTA Moving Guys will, at our discretion, offer to do one (1) of the following:

Repair the item; replace with a similar item; or make a cash settlement for the cost of the repair of the current market replacement value minus depreciation.
